How good are your smartphone photos? Have you like me slipped into a sameness like using your phone camera for just candid photos? If you think that you would like to take some better images with your camera phone here are a couple of thoughts which might help you improve. Choose 1 or 2 to try out.
1. If your lens is dirty the photos will show it.. Clean with a soft cloth when needed.
2. Hold the camera the right way. One handed photos are risky. Use both hands and click the shutter with your thumb or index finger.
3. If you're taking a people photo, fill the frame with their picture. Small screens need the subject to fill most of the screen.
4. Learn more about basics of good composition in photos, watching how you frame your shots, moving to a good background, moving to proper lighting, and so on. Good information on the internet.
5. Learn about the advanced features built into your smartphone camera and use them. My camera has Slo-Mo, video, square frame, and panorama, It also has flash, HDR, and a timer for the shutter.
6. For the serious photographer, apps can be purchased for a few dollars that allow you to do more. Features include shooting in RAW, split focus, and manually controlled exposure, ISO, shutter speed, white balance, and focus. One I like is called Moment .
7.With photo editing software you can improve your images even more. Classes in the community teach about smartphone photography. Check your App Store for more details on editing software . I use Lightroom and Photoshop.
None of us will become expert photographers overnight, but learning more about our smartphone camera's features that are always available, can dramatically improve the quality of our pictures. There’s lots of information about using mobile phone cameras on the internet.
I love my 36 megapixel Nikon, and the more I use it, the more features I find which are new to me. Because there are so many features to explore I’ve tended not to be as proficient as I should with the camera on my mobile phone. However, since my phone is always with me, I need to use it more, because with my smartphone I always have access in a moment for a great photo.
My son Chad and his wife Sherianne did a getaway to England and France and came back with some fabulous photos using only his iPhone. Chad has created some amazing images with his phone camera. It's his go-to device for work, everyday events, and travel. I’ve attached some of Chad's photos taken with his iPhone. I love the images he has shared with us which show some possibilities in smartphone photography. Please join me in learning to use our phone cameras better.
